Qualifier
Mixed-game term
A qualifier is the bar a low hand has to clear before it can win half the pot: five unpaired cards, all eight or lower. It is why these games are written “eight or better”.
If nobody clears it, there is no low half at all — the best high hand takes the whole pot. That one rule is what makes split-pot games worth learning, because it means half the pots are not split.
